I’m not a huge fan of Sarah Palin, even though she does look pretty damn good in running shorts. But I will rush to defend her against the mindless, partisan hypocrisy of the liberal media - this time at the hands of the Associated Press.

Reviewing books and holding ALL public figures accountable is supposed to be at the core of good journalism - but the Associated Press’ treatment of Palin’s book is unprecedented and unfair. Read more

While most of this country is drooling and falling all over themselves to kneel at the feet of The Chosen One, President Barack Obama, Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons straight arms him.

President Obama, after threatening companies to stop taking junkets to Vegas on tax payers money even if the end result was increased revenue which many of these junkets produce, caused an estimated $100 million loss of revenue to the city of Las Vegas.  This outraged Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons so much that he refused an invite to the White House, stating “While I appreciate the offer, I am not interested in a handshake and a hello from President Obama, I am interested in an apology and plan to undo the damage the President did”.

I say job well done to the Governor, who refuses to allow the national love fest with Barack Obama to stop him from speaking his mind.

Now if we can get the country to open their eyes to terrible decision they’ve seemed to have made to follow him off a cliff….

The full article below is pulled from CNN.com:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Nevada’s Republican governor has turned down an invitation from the White House to briefly greet President Obama when he visits the state tomorrow for a Democratic fundraising event, citing comments the president made earlier this year calling on companies that received taxpayer-funded bailouts to avoid wasting money on luxuries like company planes and Vegas vacations.

“While I appreciate the offer, I am not interested in a handshake and a hello from President Obama, I am interested in an apology and plan to undo the damage the President did,” Gov. Jim Gibbons said in a Monday statement.

He again called on Obama to publicly promote Nevada tourism, and to apologize for his remark that business leaders receiving money from the government “can’t get corporate jets. You can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer’s dime,” blaming the president for the recent cancellation of hundreds of conventions and other meetings originally scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, and the loss of more than $100 million in revenue.

Here’s another one out of the Mid-East that should make everyone go, huh? Yes folks, husbands are allowed to slap their wives if they spend lavishly - - this declaration from a Saudi judge  during a seminar on domestic violence, Saudi media reported Sunday.

So was the seminar promoting domestic violence or was the judge saying that slapping you wife was not considered domestic violence?

Oh, but the judge provided clarification:  Judge Hamad Al-Razine said that ”if a person gives $320 to his wife and she spends $240 to purchase an abaya [the black cover that Saudi women must wear] from a brand shop and if her husband slaps her on the face as a reaction to her action, she deserves that punishment.”

Al-Razine “also pointed out that women’s indecent behavior and use of offensive words against their husbands were some of the reasons for domestic violence in the country,” it added.

Saudi women’s rights activist Wajeha Al-Huwaider told CNN that Saudi women routinely face such attitudes.  ”This is how men in Saudi Arabia see women,” she said in a telephone interview from the Saudi city of Dahran. “It’s not something they read in a book or learned from a friend. They’ve been raised to see women this way, that they’re less than a person.”

Al-Huwaider added that “I’m not surprised to see a judge or a religious man saying that - they’ve been raised in the same culture - a culture that tells them it’s ok to raise your hand to a woman that this works.”

Another Saudi judge, in the city of Onaiza, was the source of a separate recent controversy: he twice denied a request from the mother of an 8-year-old girl that the girl be granted a divorce from her 47-year-old husband.

Ahhh, but where would we be without our politically correct liberalized-American culture where we celebrate such attitudes in the (self) interests of tolerance. Just don’t wish anyone a Merry Christmas, because that would be too offensive for any enlightened hypocrite to tolerate! Leave a comment…
